Every Small Step of Support Creates a Bigger Path Toward Stability and Hope.<\/h2>\n

The township counseling services are available from Jerry Zachar, our Director of Counseling, including one-on-one counseling, support groups and grief groups. All the counseling services are provided free of charge to West Deerfield Township residents.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

At West Deerfield Township, we believe that caring for our community means caring for the whole person including body, mind, and spirit. Life can present challenges at every age, and no one should have to face them alone. I\u2019m proud to serve as the Township Psychologist, helping residents navigate life\u2019s difficulties with support, understanding, and dignity. Every day, I see how the right guidance and connection can make all the difference. Sometimes that means providing counseling for individuals or families working through grief, anxiety, or stress. Other times, it means connecting people to essential community resources including health care and housing to employment and education.<\/p>\n

Not long ago, we met a mother who had fallen on hard times and found herself without a place to live. She was doing everything she could to keep her children safe, but the stress and uncertainty were overwhelming. Through the Township\u2019s network of partners, we were able to help her find temporary housing and connect her with mental health care to support her emotional well-being. With stability and guidance, her children were soon enrolled in school and thriving again. Stories like hers often begin with a single act of compassion and a community that cares.<\/p>\n

A few years ago, we launched our Grief and Loss Support Group, and I\u2019m pleased to share that it\u2019s still going strong. The group provides a safe, compassionate space for people who have lost loved ones to share their feelings and find a sense of kinship among others facing similar challenges.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n

These gatherings often remind us that healing happens not only through counseling but also through community.<\/p>\n

All of our mental health and support services including one-on-one counseling and group programs are offered free of charge to West Deerfield Township residents.
